What is 2b hair

Strands are thicker in diameter than a 2A, and you'll have to put a bit more elbow grease into getting it straight. The S-bends are well-defined and begin at the roots. Shakira is the perfect example of this hair type. Dickey also recommends layering a leave-in conditioner under a mousse to lock in your hair's natural wave pattern while adding hydration.

Type 3 curly hair can range from loose, buoyant loops to tight, springy corkscrews which have some sheen but are prone to frizz. Keep your hands or brush or comb, for that matter from touching your curls afterward, or you run the risk of having a halo full of frizz.

Hair type 3Bs have springy ringlets with a circumference similar to that of a Sharpie marker. This hair texture can get dry, so look for styling gels that have humectants in them to attract moisture to strands. A word of advice: "Apply when [your hair is] wet, so you'll get definition without frizz," Dickey shares.

Strands are densely packed together, giving way to lots of natural volume. My hair is also fine , thin , and has low porosity. My hair is low porosity because, even with it being so fine and thin, it still takes an entire day and half a night sometimes to air dry. Using my fingers, I smooth a quarter-sized amount of leave-in conditioner into my hair, grazing the roots but focusing on the ends.

If I notice my hair needs it, I may use a wide-tooth comb as well while distributing the leave-in. Then, I quickly run my hair once or twice under the water, but I do not completely rinse out the leave-in. I leave a majority of the leave-in in my hair. It just happens to style better that way! Shower DONE. I step out of the shower and towel off, leaving my hair dripping wet, and move onto styling…. Run a good amount of cool water onto a wet brush and brush through hair to distribute product.

Apply gel to hair by roping again, and smoothing along the back and sides of my hair while my head is tilted to the side. I do not scrunch the gel in this time, I instead use flat wet palms coated with emulsified gel to press the hair up to my head from the ends.

Hair will develop a cast that hard, crunchy feel as the gel sets in the hair — refrain from touching hair at all costs. I try my hardest not to touch my hair at all during the drying process as this can break up the cast on my curls too soon resulting in flat waves and generate more frizz overall.

I inherited some serious waves, but my thin, fine hair looks pretty scraggly in the gel cast, right? I usually leave the cast in until right before I leave the house to drop the kids off at school. At that point, I will…. These root clips are my favorite! To sleep, I simply put my hair into a loose pineapple bun with a soft scrunchie on top of my head see below to help preserve my curls.

To refresh my hair, I either do a full refresh or I pull it out of the scrunchie in the morning and it looks awesome without needing to do anything to it. Type 3 curly hair is springy, bouncy, defined curls and ringlets. My type 3a curly hair crush is Ayesha Malik, or spisha on Instagram. Growing up and all through my teens I had healthy, type 3a curly hair.

After years of heat and colour damage, I had type 2 wavy hair — barely! Type 4 coily hair, commonly referred to as Afro-textured or kinky coily hair, are compact coils, ranging from tight S-shaped to Z-shaped curls. This curl pattern usually has lots of body and volume, and is very prone to tangles. Type 4a curls are like ringlets, but more compact and dense. I absolutely love Whitney White, or naptural85 on Instagram.

We could go shopping for clothes together, both be a size 10 but our weight could be completely different. You may start out with 2a or 2b waves, and after following the Curly Girl Method or my Curl Maven Method, your curl type could evolve to 3c ringlets!

My curly hair has a mix of all the type 2 waves and type 3 curls. Back in the day, before heat and colour damage, I still had multiple curl patterns in my hair!

Curly hair is rarely ever just one curl pattern! So the likelihood that all your curls are going to be the exact same type and pattern is pretty small.

My content and opinion is not influenced by advertisers, sponsorships, affiliate partnerships, brands or PRs. Hi Teresa, Product build up is a common problem for low porosity hair. It can be difficult listening to conflicting advice, but I have found that if I follow fellow curlies who have the same hair porosity type as me, I tend to get the same results they do. I also get flat roots. Should I apply a mousse to the roots? And then a leave in conditioner and get from mid lefty downwards?

Should I apply on sopping wet or damp hair? Few typos in my message, it should have read -mousse at the roots and then leave in conditioner and GEL from mid-lengths dowards. Predictive text. I have been addicted to high heat tools for years.

Am I ready? From what I can tell at this point I have 2A hair, high porosity, fine, but thick hair. More wavy in the front, with the back strands going flat with a wave underneath. There are probably days when you wake up wishing your hair was just a little bit straighter or a smidge curlier. Consider these guidelines and styling products to manage and enhance your type 2b hair.

For many people with type 2b hair , the best waves appear on the first day after washing. Second and third days tend to get a little dry and frizzy at the ends yet oily at the roots. Also, consider a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to provide your hair with hydration and gentle scalp cleansing without stripping your hair of natural oils or drying it out.

What we will say yes to is investing in a wide-tooth comb for handling your damp hair needs. Since your locks have a moderate amount of thickness and definition to them, a wide-tooth comb will help smooth out your waves without ruining their natural curl.

When you have dry hair again, your hair will already be detangled and you can walk out the door with your perfect waves intact. To add softness while maintaining your natural waves , use a leave-in treatment. This moisture-rich product is great to apply before heat styling to help protect against damage. It can also be used to smooth out frizz and flyaways on dry hair. With a formula that includes avocado oil, argan oil, and coffee extract, this leave-in treatment encourages shine and hydration without weighing hair down.

When it comes to loving your wavy hair , what do you think?
