Brennen, you should already get iron ore, from destroying a rock at the beginning of the game. Saphire, emerald, ruby and other shards are like that iron ore.
You get them from destroying a rock but in other color. Emerald from green rock, saphire from blue rock etc. Iron globe from matching 3 iron ignots with alkahest. It won't work when I use 3 sapphire shards and alkolester : I already have 9 sapphire shards.
